What is Arcoform®?
Arcoform® rolls were specially developed for a high-quality production
of sheets and films. By using one Arcoform® roll and one optimised standard
roll almost all requirements of modern production such as high throughput,
best thickness and surface tolerances as well as wide range of variability
and flexibility can be fulfilled.
The principle:
Ideal
In case of an idealised straight roll geometry a sheet with parallel surfaces
and therefore uniform thickness is produced.
Real
Molecular forces within the sheet cause a linear load onto the rolls which
will suffer a deformation as a result of bending and bulging.
Arcoform® compromise
By means of a special interior design the deformation of the Arcoform®
roll adapts the deformation of the standard roll. By this equidistant
gap, the total nip tolerance is reduced to a minimum.
The advantages:
Saving of raw material
Approx. 6% of the raw material needed when using conventional rolls
can be saved as a result of the improved thickness tolerances. With an
extruder capacity of 500 kg/h and a production time of 24 hours on 200
days a year a yearly saving is achieved of:
500 kg/h ¥ 24 h ¥ 200 days ¥ 6% = 144.000 kg/year
Variable nip adjustment
Due to the adaptation of the "standard roll deformation" the
Arcoform® roll offers a widespread range of production parameters such
as production width, nip pressure and film thickness particularly. There
is no need of axe-crossing, roll-bending or crowning.
Best thickness tolerances and best surface qualities.
Reduced price compared to any other high-tech solution
Due to the mechanical design concept of one (existing) standard roll and
one Arcoform® roll the roll stack can be supplied more cost-effective compared
to any other existing high-tech design such as bending resistant BSA® rolls
or oil-pressured rolls that need two rolls for optimised production or
that are extremely expensive.
